Indag 10-Step Retreading Process – Building India's most trusted retread

Retreading is a green and sustainable alternative to new tyres. When done properly, an old tyre becomes as good as a new one in performance and utility.
The process is highly technical and should never be treated as a roadside job. It demands skilled labour, proper equipment, and high-quality branded materials.
To ensure the right retreading practices are followed at every workshop, Indag promotes a 10-step process built on years of technical experience and channel education.
The 10 key steps
- Inspection: identify acceptable casings and reject damaged ones through rigorous visual and manual checks.
- Venting: release trapped air in suitable bias casings before further processing.
- Buffing: remove worn tread and create a uniform crown surface for accurate bonding.
- Skiving: remove damaged or loose areas from the crown before repair.
- Cementing: apply Universal Spray Cement quickly to avoid oxidation and preserve tack.
- Repairing & Filling: repair injuries and fill skived areas with the correct materials and methods.
- Tread Preparation: cut the tread to size and prepare it with bonding gum and URSG.
- Building: apply the prepared tread to the casing with correct alignment and no trapped air.
- Curing: cure the assembly under controlled time, temperature, and pressure conditions.
- Final Inspection: check the finished tyre against quality standards before release.
These ten steps are the outcome of extensive technical research and development backed by more than four decades of service to fleet owners in India and abroad.
When the full process is followed rigorously, workshops can consistently produce high-quality retreaded tyres with strong reliability and performance.
